Primary School Sport Premium

The Government is providing Primary Schools with ring-fenced funding for the academic years until 2020, to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport in their schools.

For the 2018-19 academic year, schools with 17 or more pupils will receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil. Schools  with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil. As the County Sports Partnership for Berkshire, Get Berkshire Active have been commissioned by Sport England to strengthen the links between primary schools and those organisations working in sport both locally and nationally, including the Youth Sport Trust (YST), the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and School Sport Partnerships.

Get Berkshire Active have put together some useful guidance and information on the from national and local partners, for schools, head-teachers, PE staff and deliverers of sport to primary aged children.

As part of our work supporting schools and strengthening the links between schools and organisations working in Physical Activity, PE and School Sport we will be staging our annual Physical Activity Conference for Primary Schools on April 26th (9 – 3.30pm).

The conference to be held at Sindlesham Court, Sindlesham, Wokingham will give school staff from across the county the opportunity to listen to national experts in the field and practitioners who are working on the ground.

  

Keynotes will be delivered by

 * Mike Crichton Association for Physical Education (AFPE) Chair.

* Jon Glenn Learn to Swim and Workforce Director at Swim England.

* Helen Daniels Berkshire Primary School Headteacher.

As well as the keynotes, delegates will have plenty of opportunity to network, meet with providers and suppliers and take part in a range of workshops giving practical tips that can be applied back at school. 

Places on the conference are £50 for 1 delegate or £75 for 2 delegates
