Get Berkshire Active is delighted to announce further funding for the delivery of Satellite Clubs. The programme has been extended into a fifth year by Sport England, who are aiming to encourage community sports clubs, groups and physical activity providers to run outposts of their clubs in new community settings.


All clubs must be for young people 14 -19 who are inactive.


Key delivery focuses for GBA will be:

  • Low socio – economic groups / areas of deprivation
  • Women and girls
  • Ethnic minority groups
  • People with disabilities


GBA provides the link between National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sports, education establishments, clubs, youth and community groups and disability organisations, as well as funding to set satellite clubs up. So far in Berkshire, GBA have: 

Funded 80 satellite clubs,

Engaged over 2400 new people,

Into 25 sports and activities,


The Satellite clubs model provides a stepping stone for young people before they move to a community club encouraging further participation.
