Sainsbury’s Active Kids For All Inclusive Community Training (AK4A ICT) Programme

Training and resources are available for community groups to provide high quality sport provision for all young people.

To continue the momentum and create a lasting legacy for disabled people after the London 2012 Games, Sainsbury’s Active Kids for All Inclusive Community Training has been established, supported by £1 million of National Lottery funding from Sport England.

This initiative is being delivered through the English Federation of Disability Sport and sports coach UK.

What does the training involve?

It involves a three hour practical workshop. Supported by e-learning and online resources, it will help to improve knowledge, competence and confidence in delivering sports based activities to disabled people.

In addition, the course will introduce participants to coaching pathways for further development if of interest.

Who is this course targeted at?

The training is designed primarily for those who directly support disabled people within the community but are not traditionally associated with the sporting landscape.

The course aims to provide first step training to support:

  • Support workers including those in day, community and faith centres
  • Parents
  • Carers and personal assistants
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Volunteers
  • Community based groups and organisations.

By educating and working directly with these community providers we have the opportunity to further establish a pathway for disabled people in physical activity and sport.

Active Kids for All Inclusive Community Training is being delivered across England and therefore for individuals based in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, please contact your relevant home country disability sport organisation.

How much does the course cost?

It is intended that the overall learning is of limited cost to the individual. However, a nominal fee of £10 per head will be applied to support course delivery.
