How can Get Berkshire Active support your School?

Get Berkshire Active is the County Sport Partnership for the county, appointed by Sport England to oversee the strategic development of community sport in Berkshire.  We deliver this for all age groups but have specific programmes and objectives to support Children and Young People; most recently support for the Primary School Sport Premium.

Get Berkshire Active have been commissioned by Sport England to strengthen the links between primary schools and those organisations working in sport both locally and nationally, including the Youth Sport Trust (YST), the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and School Sport Partnerships.

Get Berkshire Active will be supporting Primary Schools in the following ways:

  • Providing advice on the use of external coaches and volunteers, in line with recognised minimum standards and good practice.

  • Providing links to community sports clubs

  • Helping schools to benefit from participating in the Sainsbury's School Games, other relevant

programmes and providing advice on accessing local and national organisations for support.

  • Working in partnership with local organisations to help schools with the greatest needs.

  • Ensuring communication is with schools through local networks

  • Identifying and promoting a range of appropriate CPD products and opportunities linked to national and local programmes.

If your school is in Reading or Wokingham, we can support your school further:

  • Facilitating introductions to our partners, and all organisations that may be able to support your school utilise Primary School Sports Funding effectively

  • 1 to 1 advisor support, to outline objectives, visioning, next steps to develop a School Sport Plan

  • Opportunities to work in clusters of primary schools, plus network meetings

  • Development of a Borough School Sport Strategy and group to steer this.

  • Provisional access to advice on funding available.
